In a recent Instagram post captioned ‘Touch’, Ieva Li continues her monochrome exploration into the dynamic relations between the body and contemporary art. The piece is simple in choice of subject and composition, however, is a significant example of expressionism and the motions of the human form.
Separate from her fashion design practice, Li describes her painting experience as “the most pure form of self-expression”. It is evident in her practice that Li explores this to her full advantage; developing pieces, such as the aforementioned, that are representative of the artist’s solace in painting with the body. It is easy to see why Li enjoys painting when simply glancing at her portfolio of work, staying true to notions of self-expressionism and consistent investigation. Certainly, pieces such as ‘Touch’ are simple, though would without a doubt be a statement on any home or gallery wall.
